Mebbe some of kita pernah lalui experience yang macam ni atau yang lain tetapi konsepnya sama - Malays and Chinese are dependent on each other.

Since I knew what life was all about, I have seen and witnessed interactions between the Malays and Chinese.
In my 'kampung' in southern outskirts of Melaka Town, some 40 years ago, I have seen Malays depending on a Chinese shop known as 'Kedai Ah Nee' for their sundry supplies, especially rice, sugar, chillies, fishes and vegetables.
'Kedai Ah Nee' has gone, but a few others such as 'Kedai Ah Pee' and 'Kedai Teh Kong' withstood the turbulent years and are still there. At the age nine, my elder brother developed hernia and to treat him, my father brought home the famous 'sinseh' whom we loved to call 'Nyonya Lilin'.
In primary school, I befriended a few Chinese; one who became one of my best friends. His name is Lin Muan Yuen. He spoke fluent Malay as he had many Malay friends in his kampung in Bukit Cina. At one time, he told me, he wanted to convert to Islam, but when he grew up, we went our different ways, and he became 'a long lost friend'.
My father too befriended some Chinese, and during hari raya, they came 'to sample' my mother's cooking. They love 'ketupat' (rice wrapped in coconut leaves) with 'rendang ayam' (chicken). I learnt a few tips from my father; dont serve the Chinese 'rendang daging lembu' (beef) because they dont like it. Until now I am not sure whether the Chinese just dont like beef or taking beef is against their religion just like Hindus.
When I grew up, my interactions with Chinese widened. The truth is Malays and Chinese cannot avoid each other. In short they need each other. For example, Malays depend heavily on the Chinese in various fields such as suppliers of goods and repair works while Chinese depend on Malays for security because almost 100 percent of the police and military personnel are people of this race.
There must be two-way communication; the Chinese and Malays benefits from it in a win-win situation. If it is a win situation only on one side, it is selfish attitude and should be put on end.

Manakala Ah Ping pula selalu tolong kami adik-beradik membuat kapal terbang kertas.
Apabila aku bersekolah di Sek Men.
